Our Story

In 2017, Bonnie & Jai Bird left their little San Francisco home and bought Fiona, a Nigerian Dwarf goat. Fiona came with a little over an acre of land and a lovely little house in Sebastopol, California. The Lady Pond is a home, a gathering place, a queer and trans refuge, a farm, a campground, an outdoor movie theater, the home of Smash Fest, a music studio, an orchard, a very busy kitchen, a concert venue, a welding school, a never ending project, and home to Fiona, her 20 duck, goat, dog, cat and chicken sisters, and 2 brothers (one rooster, one three-legged goat).

Jai and Bonnie went a little crazy on the poultry acquisition and are the proud parents of 9 bantam hens, 1 bantam rooster, and 3 Indian Runner ducks. The layers produce Love Eggs.

In 2020, The Lady Pond went through some major renovations courtesy of Jai to create Hope Acre, a little functioning farm full of vegetables (mostly tomatoes) and love.

The biggest change of all has been the introduction of a wild animal onto our farm—our 3.5 yr old son, Storey Teller Albatross Bird.
